Trapping Changes for the Next Fur Season

Below is a email sent by Aaron Ghaemi (ODWC Furbearer Biologist) to Clifton Ray (OFBA Director). This is good news indeed. Let’s not sit on our laurels though, contact your state reps on other trapping issues that you have. Writing a letter that you calmly discuss the issues such as signage, raccoon limits or whatever you think needs changed will get far better results than e-mailing or calling. Both of those are still better than nothing, but writing is king when it comes to getting their attention. On a personal note, I want to thank Clifton and our other board members who are out there trying to changes made.  I especially want to thank Aaron Ghaemi for the work he does. I have long said, let the laws match the biology. He’s doing that. Thank you. See the e-mail below. John Weygandt   Hello Clifton, Our commission voted yesterday...

March 2014 Auction Results

March 2014 Auction results are listed below. I want to thank everyone who helped with the auctions this year. For those who aren’t involved, it takes a lot of man hours to put on the auctions. Getting the facility ready, the food, handling the fur, cleaning up, organizing the workers or checking people in and getting memberships issued. There is more work than we have people. Sometimes we don’t get it right, but we are always trying. Next year volunteer to help or just step up and help while your waiting for your fur to sell. Just a few minutes of help will allow someone to take a break. We don’t turn down help when we get it and we always appreciate it. Even if we don’t always mention it or know who you are. Remember, we aren’t getting paid for this. We do it because it is all of our’s...

Ron Scott has passed away

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that we have lost a member of our association, Ron Scott. Ron passed away during the night of the 30th/31st. He had recently found out that he had Thyroid cancer that had spread to his lungs. He tried to wait until after the holidays to begin treatment, but had to go in on Christmas Eve. As many of you know, Ron was instrumental in our merger and he an Vivian have been fixtures at most every event we’ve had. Very few people could claim that they have participated as much as Ron & Vivian. It was just something you took for granted, you looked up and there he was. It’s not the manpower that will be missed, its the camaraderie with a great trapper, nice guy and good friend. He was soft spoken and quick to a smile, both...
